DIFFERENT returns for its third edition at Flock at Kampong Java with a programme that spans eight centuries and refuses to stay in any one of them for long. From Hildegard von Bingen's 12th-century mystical chant to Aphex Twin. From Bach to Brian Eno. From the stillness of Satie to Philip Glass in a new arrangement that pulses like something alive. Works by J.S. Bach, Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Satie, Philip Glass, and Peter Gregson are drawn into a shared atmosphere of tenderness and suspended time — held together, and gently taken apart, by composer and sound artist Mervin Wong. Using original field recordings, electronic ambient works, and live spatial audio mixing, Mervin threads through and within the programme, quietly reshaping the experience as it unfolds.
