Praised for his musicality and artistic sensitivity, Singaporean pianist Bryan Soo has been described by Prof. Grzegorz Niemczuk—one of Poland’s leading interpreters of Frédéric Chopin—as a musician whose playing “flows as if united with his sensitive soul,” and by Régulo Martínez-Antón as one who “plays with sensitivity and passion.” A concert artist, producer, and educator, Bryan performs internationally across Asia, Europe, and the United States. He is the founder and artistic director of BespokeArts, a curatorial performance platform dedicated to presenting distinctive concert experiences. Joining him for this recital is pianist Zack Teo, known for his poetic sensibility, vocal approach to phrasing, and refined touch at the keyboard. Originally aspiring to be a voice major, his affinity for singing continues to shape his pianism, resulting in performances that breathe and sing. At the heart of the programme are Chopin’s four Ballades—works that transformed the piano into a vehicle of narrative imagination. Rich in drama, lyricism, and structural innovation, each Ballade unfolds like a musical tale, weaving together moments of poetry, turbulence, and reflection. Shared between the two pianists, these masterpieces form a dialogue across four distinct musical stories. The programme concludes with the Fantasy in B minor, Op. 28 by Alexander Scriabin, a work of sweeping emotional intensity and visionary character. Bridging late Romanticism with Scriabin’s emerging mystical language, the Fantasy offers a fitting culmination to an evening devoted to imagination, storytelling, and the boundless expressive possibilities of the piano.
